Breed: thoroughbred
Sex: mare
Color: bay
Height: 16,3
Age: 8
Temperament: Puppy Dog; the only thoroughbred I've ever described as "bombproof"
Future Prospect: Pet Only due to chronic cellulitis in back leg.

Buttercup was rescued from Bravo Packing, a horse slaughterhouse in NJ. Sadly, she lived at the slaughterhouse for over one year. While she was there, she developed cellulitis in her back leg, which went chronic due to the fact that the slaughterhouse owner refused to pay for the vet to come out to put her on antibiotics and wash and treat her leg. Her leg got so chronic while at the slaughterhouse, that arthritis set in and eventually, the cellulitis went septic ... and entered her bloodstream.

Recently, Buttercup almost died due to another flareup of cellulitis. The vets were by her side on emergency for almost one week. The vet will have to visit her once weekly to make sure her leg is healing properly and debride necrotic flesh off the joint by using a sharp knife.
This is a long and arduous process. Amanda has to wash, scrub and treat and wrap her leg every day. The daily ritual takes hours and the special sterilized wraps and tapes are expensive.

Buttercup's bill is already over $2000.00 and will be ongoing for the next year.

We desperately need a sponsor for her ... She boards at an upstanding facility, known for it's excellent staff and clean stalls. Butter must board in the foaling stall, due to her need to enhance her circulation though constant movement up and down the stall.
