You may also remember me from my well publicized speeches (Part 1, Part 2) in Washington DC, in which I spoke about my horse FedEx Man, the grandson of the legendary racehorse champion, Exceller. FedEx was loaded up in a 40 head semi-trailer which stood for two full days at a sleazy killer buyer's driveway in West Virginia. His intended destination? Cavel Horse Slaughterhouse in Dekalb, Illinois.
My daughter, Amanda made that pivotal phone call that saved his life and spared him a hanger at the meat locker. Luckily Cavel was closed down and is now an ugly memory of yesterday.
Today FedEx Man is not only a trained hunter/jumper/pleasure horse but he is also my best friend. Whenever I visit him in his pasture he will not let me leave. This special thoroughbred and I have a bond that can never be broken. FedEx has a place in my heart forever. I love him dearly and would do anything for him.
